You probably already know that the two lists above are not exhaustive. They are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
You could get as fancy with your web site as you wanted to. That's the beauty of the web - the only limits are those set by your imagination and creativity - and most importantly, your customer's needs!
By fancy, I don't mean having flashing images, useless Java applets, and popping windows and moving text all over your site. But it is certainly nice to have a web site that is highly automated to be your "We are open round-the-clock" store front, serving your customers and selling your products 24x7? I mean, isn't that the greatest benefit of having a web site?
Take a look around on this site - there isn't a single advertisement. No popups, no flashing images, no affiliate links.
But, if you are like most people, then you probably don't have the few hundred - or even few thousand dollars (being extremely optimistic here) - that it would take to pay a web developer to program the scripts that would do all of the cool stuff I mentioned above.
Let's be honest - many web site owners do not know what they want from their site.
And most of them usually don't know what is even possible on the web.

Obviously, this is the foundation of all businesses.
